Animal Poetry

Hey animal loverz! Many of you have been asking for me to add some poems to the Animal Poetry section, so here they are. Since this blog was created to inspire people to make a difference and protect animals and nature, I will put a little description below every poem that shows the message. All written by the one and only, Oliveagle.

Tiger

Silent eyes stare into the darkness

What is this place?

Memories flicker, the darkness of them soaking into glossy stripes.
The cage bars creak.
Your heart is weak.
Until someone dares to speak.
Only a whisper, you can't understand.
A flash of lights burns your eyes, held by a hand.
Giggles explode, and wide eyes stare
Inside your dark and dreary lair.
You wish for sun, yet you get none.
Only more voices growing louder.
The crack in a door slowly widens
Your heart opens.
This is my chance to escape.
Yet the door slams shut.
Right on your tail, leaving a cut.
Yet the strange man doesn't seem to care.
Old meat scraps fall onto the floor, only a small share.
Sink your teeth into food, it lightens your mood.
And suddenly the man  comes closer.
You look around, confused.
Until the sound of thunder hits your rib.
Blinding pain, your bones protesting in vain.
Dazed, the worlds tumbles.
You expect the wall to crumble.
Suddenly the man is gone.
The crowd is gone, the teasing voices.
Vanished like a whisper.
The pain eases away.
You dream of the day.
All the pain will end.
The day your heart will mend.
You manage to find a piece of long lost bread
The groan rolls into a whisper.
Crumbs collect on your whisker.
Footsteps echo, you think it's another blow.
Yet another man enters.
The memories of that happy day have long faded away.
Just a rumbling truck.
Juicy steak
And mumbles about "jungle reserve, filled with other tigers."
The opening of a door.
A heart has soar.
Welcoming meows.
Freedom at last!

This poem is about animal cruelty. Thousands of tigers are illegally poached each year.
Put in tiny, dark cages the tigers are mistreated and sometimes even starved. Usually the owner seeks money, sometimes by killing the tigers and collecting their striped coats and claws.
Other times, the owner sets up an area in a public place, allowing visitors to carry and play with the tiger. This is dangerous. The tigers get nearly no time to rest, constantly held and petted and played with. This makes the tigers very agitated. Usually the little amount of care given makes them prone to diseases, and combined with almost no food or care, the tigers usually don't survive.
If you see one of these, walk right by or ignore. Never go to things like these, and always check to make sure the animals are well taken care of at your nearest zoo. By doing this, you are helping to stop the mistreating and keeping of wild animals.
